Covington’s London practice has expanded during the past 20 years to encompass a broad range of expertise and transactions. The London office combines deep industry knowledge with lawyers experienced in advising on a wide variety of leading-edge legal issues. Much of our work focuses on the life sciences and technology and media sectors. In addition, our London-based practice embraces clients from many other industries, including the branded and consumer goods, financial services, manufacturing, media, and sports industries.
Our London corporate practice concentrates on cross-border mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures, private equity funds, private equity and venture capital transactions, securities, technology licensing, and finance. In addition, our tax and employment specialists advise on UK and international issues. Our clients range from start-up companies to established multinational corporations, investment funds, venture capital and private equity investors, and commercial banks and other financial institutions.
Lawyers in our London dispute resolution group represent clients on a broad range of contentious matters. We advise clients on a range of corporate and commercial disputes before the English courts and other tribunals. Our London team includes lawyers who specialise in commercial litigation and have deep expertise in advising multinational clients on internal investigations, FCPA, and compliance matters. As part of the firm’s highly regarded insurance practice, we represent corporate policyholders in a variety of complex insurance coverage disputes with insurance carriers in London and throughout Europe. We also have considerable expertise in defending against product liability claims, ranging from “one-off” cases to complex multi-party litigation and alleged mass torts.
The London office includes lawyers who devote substantially all of their time to the regulatory, commercial, and intellectual property issues affecting our clients in the life sciences industry. For example, our regulatory practice covers every facet of life sciences regulatory law in the UK and Europe. In addition to our regulatory experts, lawyers in our life sciences group specialise in advising industry clients on strategic collaborations, licensing, and other commercial and corporate transactions.
Our London technology and media group advises on international regulatory issues affecting the sector, the creation and enforcement of intellectual property rights, and a wide range of other commercial and corporate matters affecting the industry, including Internet policy, anti-piracy, and electronic commerce matters. We also advise on data protection and privacy issues.
Our London office comprises principally UK solicitors and US-qualified lawyers. We practice as one firm, with Covington’s other offices in Beijing, Brussels, New York, San Diego, San Francisco, Silicon Valley, and Washington.
